Responsibilities

Responsible for leading the design and development of SWA U learning solutions. Uses instructional design methodology and root cause analysis to determine the best solution to meet the Customer's goals. Stays abreast of modern learning design techniques and trends.

Work Activities/Context

  • Performs detailed analysis of Learner audience, current state, and desired outcome goals
  • Works closely with subject matter experts to gather learning requirements
  • Crafts learning objectives for training, in order to measure success
  • Creates a development timeline in partnership with LSA project team
  • Applies learning principles and methodologies to create and recommend a strategic learning solution
  • Acts as design consultant with the project Team and the Customer
  • Creates high level design document; shares vision with project team to produce
  • Acts as lead of the project team, monitoring progress and escalating risks or issues
  • Assists with development of training materials as needed
  • Write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts and video scripts
  • Hosts an alpha/content walkthrough and assists with testing and implementation of training as needed
  • Needs limited supervision and/or direction; a self-starter
  • Able to work well with a Team or independently, as needed; Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to see the big picture; understands cross-departmental and company impacts of learning
  • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 9+ years equivalent experience (learning design experience, proven instructional design and technical writing experience in lieu of bachelor's degree) -OR- Completed Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years equivalent experience (learning design experience, proven instructional design and technical writing experience) (required) (required)
  • Experience implementing instructional design theories, practice, and methods i.e. Ruth Clark, Mager, etc. (required)
  • Current in training methodologies and technology developments and work to incorporate best practices (highly preferred)
  • Applications: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, InDesign, etc. (highly preferred)
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles (highly preferred)
  • Solid LMS content management experience (required)

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Must have the ability to work under stressful situations and manage time effectively
  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks to meet department objectives and goals
  • Be a self-starter and able to work with a minimum amount of supervision to accomplish assignments and projects
  • Understanding of Company policies (ex: Appearance and attendance) and expectations of SWA Culture
  • Able to work effectively individually or in a strong Customer Service and/or Team environment
  • Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends and travel as required
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and at times, in stressful situations
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to transfer capabilities effectively to classes of different sizes, aptitudes, and backgrounds
  • Ability to facilitate focus groups, workshops and/or interviews
  • Ability to learn new computer applications, processes and product information quickly
  • Must have the ability to type and/or use a computer keyboard with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet demands of the job
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail a must

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
