Finance Manager, Australia and New Zealand

Job Description

The Role:

As a result of continued strong growth, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join our Australian leadership team. The Finance Manager will be the key person for sound financial management and control across both the Motors and Energy businesses. Working closely with a wide network of global teams, this role will provide local support for global finance departments including tax, treasury, Payroll and FP&A. This role is ideal for a strong business partner who is energised by a fast-paced environment, able to approach situations with a strategic mindset, but also willing to get involved in the detail. The Finance Manager is in a unique position to develop an intimate knowledge of Tesla ANZ so that they can partner with the business to add value.

Responsibilities:

Financial reporting

· Oversee the month-end reporting process and ensure that results of the ANZ business are accurately and meaningfully reported

· Own the local statutory financial statements and manage external audit process

· Identify and implement improvements in accounting policies, processes and systems

· Analyse and be responsible for the accounting of major Tesla Energy projects

Management reporting:

· Assess the needs of departments for management reporting and create and maintain appropriate reporting

· Communicate financial insights to department managers and work collaboratively to guide financial and process improvements based on these insights.

· Develop department-level financial forecasts utilizing inputs from department managers, headquarters and knowledge of specific projects

· Be a strong business partner and support the business on ad-hoc analysis projects

Risk and financial control

· Cost control: Implement strong procurement procedures and cost control initiatives across the business

· Procure-to-pay: set the example and educate the local team on procure-to-pay best practice and compliance

· Insurance: assess all insurable risks and ensure they are appropriately covered

· Tax: ensure the operations of the business are appropriately reflected in all tax areas, e.g. income tax, GST, transfer pricing, FBT and Payroll tax

· Treasury: develop high level cash flow forecast and work with regional Treasurer to ensure that liquidity needs are met

· Supervise the receivable and payable functions to maintain these balances at sustainable levels

· Ensure the business has access to all relevant financial resources

People management

· Lead and develop the financial analyst

· Utilise global teams to meet the financial requirements of ANZ

· Consider resourcing requirements as the business scales

Qualifications and Experience:

· A minimum of 5 years of professional finance experience, Big 4 experience a plus

· Knowledge of finance, Australian tax environment, month-end close process and financial statements, budgeting/forecast, good sense of general internal control principles.

· Management of external audit process

· Ability to create detailed financial models

· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

· Qualified Accountant (CA/CPA) with Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.

· Experience working with a large ERP system

· Understanding of Procure to Pay processes, strategies, and tactics

· Proficient with MS Office applications with in-depth knowledge of MS Excel and other applications.

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills

· Ability to work in an extremely fast paced environment.

· Can manage multiple competing projects in a time sensitive manner.

· Ability to think strategically and use independent judgment in problem resolution

· Self-starter and with a proactive approach to problem solving

· Ability to partner well with all levels within an organization

· Previous experience working on a distributed team across multiple time zones a plus
