Role Summary: The role involves assisting and supporting senior-level security and compliance team members to ensure adherence to industry standards such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and SOC 2 Type II. This includes providing security assurance to stakeholders and customers, managing security-related documentation, assisting in assessments and audits, generating security reports, responding to security events, and participating in security incident management. Additionally, the role entails contributing to the development and maintenance of security policies and knowledge bases. The position reports to the Security Manager at Alation and requires 0-1 year of experience in security and compliance activities, with SaaS/tech industry experience being a plus. Strong interest in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) functions, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment are essential. Flexibility to work flexible hours to accommodate time zone differences is also necessary.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist and support senior-level security and compliance team members to ensure industry standards of security are met in compliance with frameworks such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and SOC 2 Type II.
- Provide security assurance to stakeholders and customers by completing security questionnaires and security RFx in alignment with industry-standard frameworks. Safely share information and documentation with internal partners and external prospects and customers.
- Manage the company repository for Q&As related to security, privacy, legal, product, and engineering, and any associated documentation. Ensure repository information is properly curated, usable, and trustworthy. Work with internal SMEs to review and update content regularly.
- Assist in various assessments and audits, including internal analysis, stakeholder engagement, evidence collection, and reporting, all through GRC tools, Jira, and other applications.
- Generate and present security reports, metrics, and findings to management and other stakeholders.
- Identify, analyze, and respond to potential security events from alert sources. Participate in security incident management, tabletop exercises, business continuity, and disaster recovery efforts.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies, knowledgebase, SOPs, playbooks, and best practices.
- This role will report up to the Security Manager at Alation.
You should have:
